Formula 1 Stats: How It Works
Formula 1 Stats is a live dashboard for the current F1 season. All data comes directly from official race results and updates automatically. Everything you see reflects the season as it has played out so far.
Tips for Getting Around
Start with Next Race if you're new. It gives you a quick snapshot of what is coming up and who is expected to perform well.
Follow a driver by signing in and saving them in the My Drivers tab. You'll get a personalized view of their stats and upcoming race outlook.
Use the tabs in order when you want depth. Next Race and Drivers give the big picture; Qualifying, Pace, and Form give the detail behind it.
Hover over charts to see exact values. Most charts are interactive and show a tooltip on hover.
Switch themes using the toggle in the top-right corner. The dashboard works in both dark and light mode.
If data does not load, refresh the page. The API that powers the data is occasionally slow. If you're on Safari, try disabling content blockers for this site or switching to Chrome or Firefox.
Predictions lock before qualifying, so submit yours early. Once locked you can still see your prediction but cannot change it.
The model prediction and your prediction are separate. The model on the Next Race tab is automatic; your personal prediction is what you submit in My Predictions.
The Tabs
Next Race. A preview of the upcoming Grand Prix. Shows the circuit layout, key track stats, and a predicted finishing order based on each driver's qualifying pace, recent form, track history, and reliability. This is a model-based estimate, not a guarantee.
Drivers. Season standings, points, wins, podiums, and DNFs (Did Not Finish: races where a driver retired or was disqualified) for every driver. Each driver's race-by-race history is also available here.
Constructors. The same view for teams. In F1, "constructor" means the team that builds the car (e.g., Ferrari, McLaren). A team's points are the combined total of both its drivers.
Sprint. Stats from Sprint weekends only. Sprints are short races held on select weekends that award a small number of points separately from the main race.
Qualifying. Each driver's average qualifying position, best and worst performances, and how their grid positions compare across the season. Qualifying sets the starting grid for race day and is one of the strongest predictors of race results.
Pace. A deeper look at car and driver pace, including lap time consistency and how each driver performs at different circuit types.
Form & Trends. Recent momentum. Shows who is improving, who is struggling, and how results have shifted over the last few races.
Track Stats. Historical performance at the upcoming circuit. Useful for understanding which drivers and teams tend to do well at a specific track.
Car Specs. A chart comparing all 10 cars on their Aero vs. Power balance. Aero-dominant cars perform better on tight, twisty circuits; power-dominant cars are faster on high-speed straights. This helps explain why certain teams over- or underperform at specific venues.
The Prediction Model
The predicted finishing order on the Next Race tab is calculated using six factors:
Qualifying pace (45%). The single strongest predictor of where a driver will finish.
Recent form (11%). Results from the last few races, showing momentum.
Track type fit (12%). How well each car's aero/power balance matches the circuit.
Race execution (12%). How consistently a driver converts their grid position into strong finishes.
Circuit history (10%). Past performance at this specific track.
Reliability (10%). DNF rate, reflecting mechanical and driver-error risk.
Creating an account lets you save favorite drivers and submit your own race predictions. Your predictions are scored after each race and compared against everyone else on the global leaderboard.
My Predictions
Before each race, logged-in users can submit their own predicted finishing order. After the race, predictions are scored based on accuracy. The world stats section shows the crowd's consensus pick, a global leaderboard ranked by season accuracy, and how your score compares to everyone else.
Data Source
All race results and standings are pulled from the Jolpica/Ergast F1 API. If the page fails to load, the API may be temporarily unavailable; refreshing usually resolves it. Safari users: if you see a load error, try disabling content blockers for this site in Safari Settings, or use Chrome or Firefox.
